Windows 10 now comes with an Antivirus that functions by default if no other product is installed. It also has a better performance than previous editions. The question is whether it offers you adequate protection. There are free products available that give better protection and compare favourably with McAfee, which is frequently loaded on new computers as a free trial. It also seems clear that the best protection has to be purchased.
Additional Protection and Maintenance
Many of the suppliers of Antivirus products offer additional features that extend protection and allow easy maintenance of your digital device. These can include;
Password Manager
VPN (Virtual Private Network)
Vulnerability warnings
Registry Repair
File Shredders
Disc Cleanup
Optimizers
Of course, these come at extra cost. It is usually possible to take a 30 day free trial with these products so you can see how they operate and if you can use them.
Financial Transactions
Online Banking or purchasing goods via the internet requires using security measures. Not just an antivirus but strong passwords. Most banks offer advice on how to remain secure. This link will take you the advice given by Nationwide.
